Kirkwood is a historic neighborhood on the east side of Atlanta, Georgia, with a population of about 6,000 residents. As part of DeKalb County, Kirkwood is served by various agencies and organizations that provide essential services and programs to protect and improve the well-being of the community.

Waste Collection

​

  • Bulk Trash (appliances, furniture, etc) is collected by appointment only. To schedule a pickup, contact City of Atlanta Solid Waste Services at 404-330-6333 or through Atlanta 311. Please be aware waste services does not collect construction debris, paint cans, auto parts and tires. If you put these items curbside, you risk a citation from the City of Atlanta.

  • Herbie Curbies (green trash barrels on wheels) must be placed at the curb no earlier than 7 pm the evening before collection and must be removed from the curb no later than 7 pm the day of collection by City Ordinance. The Kirkwood collection day is typically Thursday unless it falls on a holiday week. If you need a new Herbie Curbie call 404-351-0475 or request one through Atlanta 311.

  • Yard Trimmings

    • Are only collected during the 2nd and 4th weeks of each month

    • Must be neatly placed curbside the weekend before collection

    • Must be in approved paper bags (available at hardware stores )

    • All waste must be no longer than 4 feet in length (branches, etc.)

    • Yard trimmings in plastic bags or left in piles will not be collected! If your yard trimmings are not collected, contact City of Atlanta Solid Waste Services at 404-330-6333 or through Atlanta 311.
